Day 01
Marrakech – AitBenhaddou – Agdez – Erg Chehbi
We will drop by to pick you up from your Riad in Marrakech at 7:00AM and start travelling towards the Atlas mountains to spend 2 Nights Desert Tour in the desert, but before reaching our first site, Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This Kasbah is perhaps the most impressive and well-preserved fortress cities in Morocco, which the Moroccan Government itself jumped on the bandwagon in 1994 to rehabilitate the Kasbah in order to preserve the cultural and national heritage. The Kasbahs were a major stop for camel caravans carrying salt through the Sahara and returning with gold, silver and slaves. We continue along the route, arriving at Ouarzazate, the gateway to the Saharan desert, the Moroccan city known for Hollywood movies being located and filmed here. Top Hollywood blockbusters which have been filmed in Ouarzazate include movie titles such as The Gladiator, The Mummy, Kingdom of Heaven, Game of Thrones, Prince of Persia and Lawrence of Arabia. We continue to make our way, experiencing the Draa Valley, en route to draa valley. Then to merzouga , joining our camels and head off into the desert for a 1-2 hour camel trek to reach our Luxury Desert Camp to pass an amazing 2 Nights Desert Tour ; Berber desert camp for the night. The camp provides private Berber bivouacs, under stars being so bright in the Desert. Overnight in the Nomad tent.
Day 02
Chebbi – Merzouga – Todgha Gorge- Dades gorge -Ouarzazate
After breakfast overlooking the beautiful sunrise, we will pass through villages making several stops showing the making of local artisanal crafts. These include the making of marble from fossils which provides an authentic opportunity to see how Moroccans use their natural resources to make exquisite masterpieces. Next, we will pass through the Draa Valley which is home to one of the most beautiful and longest palm grove and river in Morocco. It is also said to known that the best dates come from this area. After this mouth dropping drive, we will arrive in Ouarzazate where we will take refuge for the night.
Day 03
Ouarzazate - Telouate - Marrakech
Our day of adventure then moves onto Ouarzazate, where we’ll tour around this city and see the film studios. Ouarzazate is a much-loved location by film production, many of whom specifically come here because of the ancient buildings, golden landscapes and stunning scenery. One feels as though you have taken a trip back in time as you explore the ancient Kasbahs, golden clay buildings and don’t be surprised to see a Hollywood film crew shooting a movie. We will visit the Kasbah of Telouet which was occupied by the Pacha Glaoui during his reign and is frequented by Moroccan travellers. It sits in the village of Telouet nestled outside the Onilla Valley. The Harem and reception hall areas give one a good idea of the former luxury in which El Glaoui lived, as well as a look at the Andalusian style of decorating. However, the older parts of the Kasbah are in complete ruins, making it difficult to see properly. Walking through the crumbling passageways is like walking through a maze and some have gotten lost exploring the dilapidated Kasbah. We will drop you off in Marrakech around 4 PM.
