Marrakech to Zagora 2 days 1 night Desert Tour
Marrakech to Zagora 2 days is a perfect short for those who have a short time in Morocco and wish to seize the opportunity to discover the magical Sahara experience.
Marrakech – High Atlas Mountain — Ouarzazate – Zagora
We will pick you up from your Riad at 7:00 AM and start our 2 days Sahara Desert Trips From Marrakech to zagora journey towards the Atlas mountains before reaching our first site, Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This Kasbah is perhaps the most impressive and well-preserved fortress cities in Morocco, which the Moroccan Government itself jumped on the bandwagon in 1994 to rehabilitate the Kasbah in order to preserve the cultural and national heritage. The Kasbahs were a major stop for camel caravans carrying salt through the Sahara and returning with gold, silver and slaves. We continue along the route, arriving at Ouarzazate, the gateway to the Saharan desert, the Moroccan city known for Hollywood movies being located and filmed here. Top Hollywood blockbusters which have been filmed in Ouarzazate include movie titles such as The Gladiator, The Mummy, Kingdom of Heaven, Prince of Persia and Lawrence of Arabia. We continue to make our way, experiencing the Draa Valley, en route to Zagora. Once we arrive at Zagora, we will have time to explore some breathtaking Palm views before joining our camels and head off into the desert for a 1 to 2 hour camel trek to reach our Berber desert camp for the night. The camp provides private Berber bivouacs, under stars that are so bright in the Desert. Overnight in the Nomad tent with dinner and breakfast.
Zagora – Draa Valley — Ouarzazate –– Marrakech
After a traditional Berber breakfast, we will have another 1-2 hour camel ride at sunrise to explore the sand dunes further. It would be possibly the best moment in your 2 days Sahara desert trip From Marrakech to Zagora .We then make our return journey to Marrakech, stopping off at many highlights along the way. We may visit the Kasbah of Telouet which was occupied by the Pacha Glaoui during his reign and is frequented by Moroccan travellers. It sits in the village of Telouet nestled outside the Onilla Valley. The Harem and reception hall areas give one a good idea of the former luxury in which El Glaoui lived, as well as a look at the Andalusian style of decorating. However, the older parts of the Kasbah are in complete ruins, making it difficult to see properly. Walking through the crumbling passageways is like walking through a maze and some have gotten lost exploring the dilapidated Kasbah. Our journey takes us over the High Atlas mountains where you will enjoy the magnificent views of the surrounding country and to see the local communities who live in these mountains. We return to Marrakech and drop you off at your Riad / Hotel at around 6:00PM.
